Merry Christmas...

Merry Christmas to you all!

It is hard to believe another year has gone by! This year has been such a great year with so many fun-filled activities and events! The last term has especially flown by!  We have been reflecting on the wonderful things we've done this year and big highlights for the children have included:

  • swimming at Aquagym
  • visiting Ferrymead
  • going to Orana Park
  • our trip to North Beach
  • Drip, drip, drip ignition day
  • the Easter Egg hunt
  • our winter and summer walks
  • the cross country
Each year, we see huge growth in the children in so many ways!  Our school values are such an integral part of what we do each day at St Albans School and we believe that they are important life skills to develop.  We have certainly seen these skills being developed in every child in our class.

A huge thank you to those of you who have helped in our class this year - in big and small ways!  It makes our jobs much easier and your children love you being involved in their learning.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Travel safely if you are lucky to be heading away!  Make sure that you pop in and see us next year - we always love to see familiar faces and to follow the progress of the kids we have had!

Take care and all the best for 2015!
Adela and Julie

Beach Day Fun..

It may have been cool at North Beach today but that did not hinder the awesomeness of our time at the beach!  Relays, octopus, sandcastle competitions and most importantly learning about sun and surf safety were the highlights of the day!  Check out these photos ...

Beach Education Day

Next WEDNESDAY we are heading to the beach to learn about ways to be safe in the water.  As the children will be hopping in the water, a WET SUIT is high recommended!  It is chilly in the sea!  Please make sure that your child has:

  • a sunhat
  • sunblock
  • a drink of water
  • a big lunch
  • a warm jersey/jacket
  • a wetsuit or sensible swimwear

Let's get physical...

Today we had a fun day out in the sun taking part in a FUTSAL session and then getting into the pool! It was so great to have an afternoon swim with temperatures reaching about 25 degrees!

Sam from Mainland Football took us for our first FUTSAL session.  Futsal is the South American equivalent of New Zealand's touch rugby.  It is a very popular modified game of soccer.  We learnt how to use different parts of our foot to dribble the ball today.

Then it was time to cool off in the pool!  It was nearly 27 degrees in the pool! Bliss!

Athletics Day Fun....

Well done to all the wonderful competitors from Room 13 on your fabulous efforts at Athletics' Day today! The feedback we have had from all the teachers is that you had great attitudes, tried your best, set goals and achieved them!  Some of you even won events - well done!
Great work to our two relay teams - third in the Year 3 Boys and second in the Year 3 Girls.  Look at the fun we've had today!

All in a day's work at St Albans School!
