Let's get physical...

Today we had a fun day out in the sun taking part in a FUTSAL session and then getting into the pool! It was so great to have an afternoon swim with temperatures reaching about 25 degrees!

Sam from Mainland Football took us for our first FUTSAL session.  Futsal is the South American equivalent of New Zealand's touch rugby.  It is a very popular modified game of soccer.  We learnt how to use different parts of our foot to dribble the ball today.

Then it was time to cool off in the pool!  It was nearly 27 degrees in the pool! Bliss!

Athletics Day Fun....

Well done to all the wonderful competitors from Room 13 on your fabulous efforts at Athletics' Day today! The feedback we have had from all the teachers is that you had great attitudes, tried your best, set goals and achieved them!  Some of you even won events - well done!
Great work to our two relay teams - third in the Year 3 Boys and second in the Year 3 Girls.  Look at the fun we've had today!

All in a day's work at St Albans School!

Chocolate Truffles .....

Can you help us with making some home made sweets for the fair?  I have attached a recipe for making Chocolate Truffles - these seem pretty easy to make! Famous last words!  We'd love these to be  at school this FRIDAY and we can then package them up in the class!

You will need:
150 gms of plain chocolate
150 mls of cream
25gms of butter

To coat the truffles:
cocoa powder
coconut
dipping chocolate - white or brown

1.  Melt the chocolate in a small bowl over simmering water.
2. Add the cream and butter, and stir until it has all melted together.
3.  Let the chocolate mixture cool for a few minutes, then leave in the fridge to cool further.
4.  Remove from the fridge and roll into small balls.
5. Roll in cocoa, coconut or dip in chocolate!
6. Store in the fridge until you are ready to bring them to school!

I do hope this recipe works!  I haven't tried it but have made the Edmonds Recipe book ones and they work and are divine!

Willie Wonka's Amazing New Chocololate Bar!

In class we had to devise a new imaginary chocolate bar for Mr Willie Wonka. First we looked at the Cadbury website along with wrappers from different chocolate bars before coming up with our own ideas. We then had to plan our chocolate bar, write a set of instructions and draw the design with labels detailing key aspects.

The winner of the class competition was Eve.
